Â鶹ÊÓƵ Museum on the road again

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Museum Roadshow returns with a new pop-up exhibition and events at Kensington & Chelsea Central Library on 10 and 11 December.

The specially curated exhibition will feature images of some of the RCM Museum’s most visually stunning instruments. It will centre on the idea that ‘Music is Craft’ and will explore the incredible techniques, precious materials and beautiful patterns the instruments are made with. It will be a sneak peak of the RCM Museum’s new home, currently being built as part of the More Music: Reimagining the Â鶹ÊÓƵ project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

As with all RCM Museum Roadshow events, RCM musicians will be taking centre stage. On the evening of 10 December Kensington Library will host a  and on 11 December RCM Museum researcher Anna Maria Barry presents a fascinating  about the RCM’s collection, including surprising and hidden stories behind some of the portraits. The characters in these portraits will be brought to life through songs performed by talented RCM musicians.

The exhibition offers visitors the chance to experience the RCM’s collection whilst the Museum building is closed for redevelopment. Lydia Baldwin, Museum Learning & Participation Officer Â鶹ÊÓƵ, says: 'We are grateful to Kensington & Chelsea Library for hosting us for our next Roadshow event, which will allow us an opportunity to give our local audiences a glimpse of a few instruments and stories from the ‘Music is Craft’ element of our new display. We cannot wait to see what they think!'
