Jason Evans appointed Head of Brass Faculty

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jason Evans as Head of Brass Â鶹ÊÓƵ (RCM), commencing in September 2022. Jason will succeed Nigel Black, who retires at the end of August.
Jason has been a professor of trumpet at the RCM since 2016. As a member of the Brass Faculty, he plays an active role both in trumpet teaching and the development of the faculty as a whole.
Born on the Isle of Man, Jason studied at Chetham's School of Music, and completed his studies with James Watson, Mark David, Paul Beniston and John Hutchins at the Royal Academy of Music. He is Principal Trumpet of the Philharmonia Orchestra and is in demand as a Guest Principal with many other ensembles. He also has a successful solo career. In 2020 he featured as a soloist at the BBC Proms and in 2021 he became a Yamaha Artist. Jason has been involved in several film soundtracks including The Avengers: Endgame, VICE, Black Panther, Aladdin, The Kings Man, Shazam and Dr Strange.

Jason will oversee the Brass Faculty of over 75 students across all study levels, beginning in the Autumn Term in 2022.
